Hello, Gustav!

Technorati Tags: ,,

The wind is gusting, and the rain is falling, so I guess that means Gustav is here.  I'm sure this is not the worst of it.

I picked up a few small limbs this morning when the wind started, and I'm keeping an eye on all of these large trees in my yard and my neighbor's yard, too, since their limbs often fall into my yard.  I have one huge limb down in the back; it fell about a week ago after another rainstorm. I decided to wait until Gustav did its damage before I began sawing that one up.

I just hope the electricity holds out and the water drains away.

Batten down the hatches!  Anchors Away!

I think I'm going to sleep in the hall closet tonight.  The rain doesn't scare me, but the wind does.

I love my tall, old trees, but, when the wind gusts up to 30mph, they're frightening.  Reminds me of the trees in the Haunted Forest in "The Wizard of Oz."

I just created my blog and posted my thoughts. I then returned to the school web site and realized I needed to read and post to a fellow classmate's blog. I started at the top of the list and my professor's blog is the first. I find it ironic that my post mimics many of your same thoughts and sights - wind, trees, what will happen? With every tragic occurrence we watch in person or on t.v., the images are imbedded in our minds forever. One cannot help reverting to those memories when similar things occur. In my lifetime, I can recall the tragedies I watched and will never forget: the shuttle exploding when I was in 8th grade, the second airplane flying into the second Twin Towers, Hurricanses Rita and Katrina, and now Hurricane Gustav. Memories are paintings left in our brains.....stained pieces of matter that will never wash away.

You don't "have" to post to other people's blogs, but you'll get extra points if you do.
